My experience spans Wandsworth Music, ABRSM Voices (formerly Voices Foundation), NYCGB, and music lead roles at Gordonbrock and Eliot Bank schools. That breadth of experience has shaped the ethos at the heart of Sing4All that ‘Every Child is a Musician’. All young people have the right to a diverse, high quality music education that is purposeful and powerful enough to positively impact the lives of young musicians, their families, and the wider community.

The Primary Vocal Programme
Sing4All's Primary Vocal Programme is designed to enhance singing provision across Lewisham schools through a bespoke, termly whole-class singing project, delivered as part of the music curriculum by experienced, energetic and engaging singing specialists. Every child in the school takes part, regardless of prior experience or ability, and the programme is structured as follows:

• Autumn term – Years 3 & 4 (weekly 1-hour sessions over 10 weeks)
• Spring term – Years 5 & 6 (weekly 1.5-hour sessions over 10 weeks)
• Summer term – Years R, 1 & 2 (weekly 45-minute sessions over 10 weeks)

Each project concludes with a performance opportunity for children to showcase their work to the school and to parents and carers. Schools are also invited to take part in Sing4All mass concerts and cluster performances with nearby schools.

Legacy
A key aim of the programme is legacy. Every participating school receives CPD training for class teachers, covering vocal warm-ups, basic conducting technique, vocal health, and how to lead singing with confidence - equipping them to continue that work in the classroom long after the project ends. Children are also signposted and encouraged to join their school choir and engage with Lewisham Music events such as Turning of the Year and Songfest. Where a school does not yet have a choir, the project can serve as the catalyst to establish one.

All resources are provided, including sheet music, backing tracks, sheet music videos, and Makaton/BSL action videos.

National Context
Both The Power of Music to Change Lives (DfE National Plan for Music, 2022) and Ofsted's Striking the Right Note (2023) highlight that singing should be the "golden thread" through every primary school's music education, ideally delivered by a specialist. Yet, Ofsted found that in over two thirds of primary schools visited, the curriculum was being delivered mainly by non-specialist teachers, many of whom lacked the confidence and subject knowledge to teach it well. Sing4All's programme directly addresses this gap by working within the curriculum, providing specialist-led delivery, and building lasting teacher confidence through CPD, it offers a meaningful response to exactly the challenges these reports identify.

At its heart, Sing4All is about inclusion and giving every child, not just those who already sing in a choir, access to the joy, progression and performance opportunities that a high quality singing education can bring to them now and for the rest of their lives.
